Learn Japanese with anime — without pausing every line

The usual anime-immersion loop is: watch, hit a kanji wall, alt-tab to a dictionary, lose the scene, repeat. Miteiru keeps the dictionary on the line. Furigana sits above the subtitle. Click a token for the JMDict entry, pitch accent, and a path into Anki. Then press play again.

How a session actually looks

Pick Japanese on the home screen. Drag in the episode and the .srt or .ass. Community subtitle indexes (Kitsunekko and friends) are still how a lot of people pair shows with text. Hit play. When a line is interesting, open Learn mode with Ctrl+Shift+L for a tokenized sentence, AI glosses, grammar notes, and a one-click Anki card.

YouTube works the same way if you paste a URL, with the caveat that Japanese text only appears when the video already has Japanese captions.

Why not just use a browser extension?

Browser tools shine on Netflix. Migaku and Language Reactor live there. A lot of Japanese immersion still happens on files: fansubs, BD rips, course video, files with two audio tracks. That is a desktop player problem. Miteiru is the free Migaku alternative for that pile of MKVs, and it stays usable offline once the file is on disk.

Pair it with Anki, not a mystery SRS
